Margaret Mauwa Rashidi Kabamba (pen name: Maguy Kabamba) holds a high school diploma from Lycée Motema Mpiko in Kinshasa, an associate’s degree in applied education, major French-Latin from the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique (ISP – Teacher’s College) in Lubumbashi, a bachelor’s degree in translation (French-English) from York University in Toronto, and a Master’s degree in French-Spanish from Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, Missouri, in the United States.

Maguy Kabamba is the first Congolese female novelist and is the author of two novels: “La dette congolaise” (Humanitas, Montreal, 1995) and “La réponse” (e-book edition—BookBaby, Pennsauken, NJ, 2013). She has also written two biographies: “Flory Kabange Numbi – Un homme qui voulait devenir policier” (Éditions Saint-Paul, Kinshasa, July 2025) about the Honorary Attorney General of the Republic in the DRC, and “Pèlerinage en terres politiques, la joie, la simplicité et la miséricorde” (to be published in June 2026), about the Honorary Special Advisor to the Republic on Security Matters.

She previously served as a Congolese diplomat in New York and Addis Ababa, as well as an international civil servant at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brussels. She has also held management positions at various mining companies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the United States. She is currently working as a freelance translator with a specialization in the mining sector. She resides in Canada with her family, where she also dedicates her time to writing.
